Polar Bear Parade

Marta DeLeon (formerly of Emma La Reina) has joined Polar Bear Parade on bass guitar and vocals, and probably other instruments too.

Someone wrote about Polar Bear Parade for the first time. Indie MP3 were kind enough to mention us, previewing our appearance at the Popfest next month. We were described as a "a poppier version of early Sonic Youth".

Our stage time for the Northampton Popfest has been confirmed as 4pm on Sunday October 8th.

Gus has replaced Neil on drums. We're currently looking for more musicians to collaborate with, because we want to further expand and develop our sound, and just maybe try different approaches to making music. We're looking for people who can play well, and are into experimentation and improvisation, people who enjoy making music for the sake of making music. Drop us a line if you're interested.

Also, we have uploaded a couple of new recordings here on the website.

We were asked to submit a song for the Radon Projects new album. The group asked various artists to rework one of their songs, the idea being to make an album of different interpretations of the same song. We’re not sure when its going to be released. But when we find out we’ll post the details here. We’re playing at the Northampton Popfest on 6-8th October, in Massachusetts.

We’ve accidentally developed a much more mellower sound over the past month or so, and we’re pretty happy with the way its sounding. We’d like to play a lot more shows in New York, and are going to start working towards that goal.

Well its the new year already and everything is busy in the Polar Bear camp. We're concentrating on recording at the moment and have some new music up on our Myspace page now. We're hoping to have a demo finished soon. Also, in the process of booking shows now too and have one confirmed so far for March. Think thats about all the new we have at the moment...

We have a new drummer called Neil who's great. He also plays guitar and other stuff too. Things are starting to feel more together and organized now that we have a permanent line-up. Lots of experimenting with sound possibilities, group songwriting, swapping instruments, jamming, swapping ideas/song structures, vocal harmonies etc.

On Saturday we played some of our songs on acoustic guitars and recorded it, the results of which can be found on our Myspace page.

Please get the polar bears on the camera. The view is only water. I have not seen the bears on camera in a long time. You should consider getting the moving camera that tracks movement like the Panda Cam at the National Zoo.

Thank you,
Marisha

Thank you for your suggestion. Please understand that our cam does not cover all of the areas where the polar bears may choose to go.

We have succumbed to the lure of conformity and created the obligatory Myspace page. It has some half-finished music we made on it.Add us as a friend and we can waste all our time having superficial message exchanges with each other online. "Wow I really like your pic, you're hott".

PBP are playing a breast cancer benefit show on 29th December 2005 at The Wicked Monk, Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NYC. Come along and support this very worthwhile cause.

In other news...we've recently recruited Gustavus Stadler for bass guitar duties, and its all sounding very pleasant.

22nd August 2005
We have our first show coming up at an open-mike night on Sunday 11th September @ Matchless, 557 Manhattan Ave at Driggs. We're doing a short 15 minute set. They have a lot of different acts on all night. It starts at 9pm and goes on till the place closes which is, well, whenever.

We've been busy rehearsing and adding in some distorted electronic drum beats. Now we've got 5 small but perfectly formed little tunes entitled Polar Bear March, Might Be Right, Fish Display, Baby Bohemian, and Mountain Lion. And we'll be playing a surprise cover on Sunday...

A new band brought to you by Marisha Chinsky and James Skinner. We have 3 songs, all of which are works in progress. This webpage, like the band, is under construction and more news etc will be put up once we have any news to tell anyone. We're looking for musicians to work with, so if you live in NYC and would like to become a Polar Bear drop us a line.
